GreenCarrier expands its operations in China

GreenCarrier, the principal logistics arm of the Swedish-headquartered Björk.Eklund Group, is expanding its operations in China less than six months after opening its first representative office in Shanghai. The company is now planning to use this office and its Hong Kong office, opened in July 2006, as a platform from which it will expand further into the Chinese market.

GreenCarrier places particular emphasis on the Scandinavian market, having offices in Sweden and Norway, and is experienced in both air and sea freight logistics. In China, it has recruited personnel with detailed knowledge of Scandinavia and is providing further training as required. By so doing, it is ideally positioned to provide the best possible service to Chinese importers and exporters doing business with companies located in the Scandinavian countries.

Through local partnerships, the GreenCarrier organisation has access to personnel in around ten other cities in China and new offices are expected to open in other locations including Guangdong during 2007.

According to Niklas Olsson, Managing Director of GreenCarrier Scandinavia AB, the company established its own organisation in China, GreenCarrierAsia Ltd, only after careful consideration:

“We studied the market for two or three years, taking advantage of the deep involvement other Björk.Eklund companies have in Asia. We recognised the need to have our own people on the spot, able to provide practical advice and to maintain tight control of cargo movements and the flow of information.

“We have concentrated on establishing a system where the customer has just one contact point, one particular individual, for all of his cargo entering or leaving China. That person will be able to handle both air and sea freight shipments and will be in a position to advise and to troubleshoot wherever and whenever appropriate. He (or she) will ensure that the customer’s every need is satisfied, especially with regard to any urgent or unusual shipments that may occur from time to time.”
